Gomti Chakra Tree

A small tree-form piece built from natural Gomti chakra (கோமதி சக்கரம்) shells — the spiral-marked shells found in the Gomti river near Dwarka. It is kept in the pooja room, in the living room or near the cash box, and is one of the more commonly given housewarming pieces.

How it is used

It is placed rather than worshipped directly — usually in the pooja room, on a shelf in the main room, or in the north or east of the house following Vastu practice. Gomti chakra are traditionally associated with Lakshmi and with good fortune, and the tree form is often kept for that reason. Placement conventions vary by household and by the astrologer or Vastu consultant advising; where your family follows a specific rule, follow that.

About the material

These are natural river shells, not manufactured beads. The size, thickness, spiral marking and shade of each shell differs, so no two trees are alike and the finished piece will not match the photograph exactly. Slight irregularity in the shells is normal and is what distinguishes natural chakra from moulded imitations.

Yes, these are natural Gomti chakra. You can tell by the variation between shells: real chakra differ in size, thickness and marking, while moulded imitations are identical to each other.
