Gomati chakra shells

Gomti chakra (கோமதி சக்கரம்) are small oval shells found in the Gomti river near Dwarka. One face is domed; the other is flat and carries a natural spiral marking, and it is that spiral — read as resembling the Sudarshana chakra — that gives the shell its name and its place in Lakshmi and Vastu practice.

How they are used

Loose chakra are kept in the pooja room, tied in a cloth and placed in the cash box or almirah, set under the threshold, or used in Lakshmi and Vastu rituals. They are traditionally regarded as auspicious and associated with good fortune. The number used and where they are placed differs considerably between households and between the astrologers or Vastu consultants advising — follow the guidance you have been given.

About the material

These are natural river shells, not moulded. Size, thickness, the exact spiral on the flat face and the shade of white all differ from shell to shell. Small chips and slightly irregular edges are normal. That variation is the clearest way to tell natural chakra from imitations, which are identical to one another.
